إن الكتابات الأثرية تكون في مقدمة المصادر الأثرية التى لها أثر بالغ الأهمية في دراسة التاريخ و الأثار على حد سواء ، لأنها تعتبر وثيقة أصلية لا يمكن الطعن فيها ، فقد مكنت الكتابات الأثرية المسجلة على مختلف المواد علماء التاريخ و الأثار في الوقوف على جوانب عديدة أهملتها كتب التاريخ و التراجم ، كالكتابات التسجيلية و الشاهدية و علم النميات ( المسكوكات) . فماهي أهمية الكتابات الأثرية الاسلامية في كتابة التاريخ ؟Archaeological writings are at the forefront of archaeological sources that have a tremendous impact on the study of history and archaeology alike, because they are considered an authentic document that cannot be challenged.
