Homeschooling during the Covid-19 Pandemic: Understanding the Challenges in France

Abstract

There is no doubt that the whole world was going through an unusual condition, and that the time of the covid-19 pandemic was definitely a difficult time for everyone. Numerous countries decided to opt for a lockdown as a temporary solution for the number of cases which kept increasing day by day; in an attempt to save the people. France joined the race and called for an urgent closure of all the schools and the adoption of homeschooling. Though this concept has been introduced years ago in the field of education, it was still new to most of the teachers and learners. Accordingly, this article aims at discussing the basic changes witnessed in the whole world during the period of lockdown as well as the negative effects of the covid-19 pandemic on individuals. However, and more precisely, it sheds light on the most significant challenges that teachers, learners and parents in France have been going through during the lockdown. The experience might be challenging at first, but it certainly builds resilient communication skills, encourages adaptability, and teaches the value of perseverance.
